The team of Ljudmila Kamenova, Rozanne Pollack, Cheri Bjerkan and Pam Wittes won the Marsha May Sternberg Women’s BAM on Monday by slightly more than a board.
“We were happy,” Kamenova said. “We’ve been playing with the same team for a few years and we’ve had a lot of close losses.”
Among them was the 2015 Wagar, which the team lost by 1 IMP. After that and other similar second-place finishes, they decided it was time for a change.
“Let’s win this time,” Bjerkan said. They had been second after Sunday’s qualifying sessions. The team finished with a score of 35.34, ahead by 1.09.
In second with 34.25 were Yiji Starr, Pamela Granovetter, Rose Yan and Shao Hong Wu. They had the top scores in both final sessions – 16 and 17.5 – but not enough carryover to catch the winners.
Here are the final results.
