Delfs, Sylvester race to victory in 10K Fast Pairs
Bryan Delfs of Seattle WA and Marc Sylvester of Edinboro PA won the 0–10,000 Fast Pairs on Friday, lapping the field to win by more than three boards.
They led the event in the first qualifying session with a 64.44%, then survived a 42.64% second session to qualify in eighth for a carryover of 8.85, nearly two boards back. They had little trouble getting that back in the first final session, retaking the lead with 68.52%. Finishing off with 56.55% in the last session, their final score was 265.42 (top = 8).
Jeff McKee of Cleveland TX and Greg Resz of Weatherford TX were second with 240.49.
It was the first NABC win for Delfs and Sylvester.
“As a first-time partnership, our goal is just to play and have fun,” Delfs said.
“It was one of the most relaxed two days of bridge I’ve ever had,” Sylvester said.
