Jeff Dater and Scott Nason of Dallas (in District 16) are this year’s winners of the Golder North American Pairs, Flight B, restricted to players with fewer than 2500 masterpoints. Dater and Nason drove to the victory largely on the strength of their carryover after topping the qualifying round on Sunday. The pair scored just 51.50% game in the first final session and 54.46% in the second, but it was enough for the win. Their four-session total was 781.25 matchpoints.
Narrowly behind in second place with 779.66 was the District 3 pair of Malik Magdon-Ismail of Albany NY and Kamal Gupta of Latham NY.
Dater and Nason had previously made it to the quarterfinal round of the Mini-Spingold in 2017, and Dater was second in the Red Ribbon Pairs in 2013.
