Women’s BAM Winners

Repeat winners of the Marsha May Sternberg Women’s BAM: Cheri Bjerkan, Ljudmila Kamenova, Rozanne Pollack and Pam Wittes

The team of Ljudmila Kamenova, Pam Wittes, Cheri Bjerkan and Rozanne Pollack defended their title in the Marsha May Sternberg Women’s Board-a-Match on Monday.
A strong last session pushed them over the top. They were third after the first day and remained third after the first final session. In the final session, they picked up two and a half boards against the second-place team captained by Loretta Rivers and three boards against the Russian team who finished third, scoring 17 for the session.
“It couldn’t have happened with more wonderful teammates,” Bjerkan said.
Kamenova was especially pleased with the timing of this win. She’s pregnant and will miss the Spring NABC in Memphis to give birth.

Second in the Marsha May Sternberg Women’s BAM: Ida Groenkvist, Cecilia Rimstedt, Loretta Rivers, Sandra Rimstedt and Meike Wortel

It was a close win. Their score of 36.04 was just 0.34 ahead of the Rivers team. Rivers played with Meike Wortel, Sandra Rimstedt, Cecilia Rimstedt and Ida Groenkvist.
“Along the way you make mistakes,” Wittes said. “You have to be able to flush it, stay loose and play your game.”
In third place were Tatiana Dikhnova, Tatiana Ponomareva, Victoria Gromova and Maria Yakovleva.
