Bitterman, Bendure are Wernher champs

Winners of the Wernher Open Pairs: Bob Bitterman and Mark Bendure

The Michigan duo of Bob Bitterman and Mark Bendure won the Wernher Open Pairs, finishing a half board ahead of runners-up Frederic Pollack and Kamel Fergani of Quebec.
The winners, who qualified 65th in Wednesday’s opening round, scored 59.17% in the first final session and capped it with a 63.95% in the second final to win the event. This is the first NABC title for the winners. They were frequent partners in the late 1980s, but after a long break, they have recently renewed their partnership.

Second in the Wernher Open Pairs: Kamel Fergani and Frederic Pollack

Bitterman and Bendure had a four-session total with carryover was 2977.50 (90 top), while Pollack and Fergani finished with 2924.99.
In third place were Eitan Orensten and Aba Kalish of Israel with 2855.17.
