ACBL Speakeasy

Hey there! We’ve got a couple of things to let you know about (you’re going to want to get out your calendars), but we also want to try something new!

We know you like visiting the Just Play Bridge page and MyACBL on our website, but there are other true gems you may be missing. With that in mind, in the next few Speakeasys we’re going to point out those treasures.

NOLA on the Horizon

Did you know the upcoming Spring NABC will be in New Orleans? It’s all going down March 9-19, 2023. Be there or be square!

Starting today, all members can reserve a room in one of the ACBL hotel blocks with a special price. Remember – you must reserve through our housing partner to get the deal.

There are two host hotels in New Orleans: The Marriott and the Sheraton. (Bridge play will be at the Marriott.)

P.S. about Parking at Fall NABC in Phoenix: Discount Parking is available for $5 per day at Jefferson Street Garage, 333 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Jefferson Street Garage is next to the Convention Center. Click here for details.

NABCs are terrific places for face-to-face bridge, but there’s action all over North America! Click here to find a club in your neck of the woods or click here to find a tournament and take a road trip.

Alzheimer’s Association Webinar Tomorrow

TLDAs their thanks for your participation in The Longest Day, the Alzheimer’s Association is giving a presentation Wednesday (tomorrow) at noon Central just for ACBL members!

During the hour-long webinar, Dr. Percy Griffin, director of scientific engagement for the Alzheimer’s Association, will give exclusive updates on the latest advances in treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.

If you have not already registered (we see you, early folks!), add your name/email address to our sign-up sheet by 7 a.m. Central on Wednesday, Sept. 21, so that we can send you a link to the Zoom room.

Website Spotlight: Menu Button

It’s orange. It’s in the top right. It’s the Menu button on our website.

If you remember the old version of our site, there was a gigantic dark gray footer with links to different parts of the website (e.g., club resources, tournament calendar, ethics forms).

When we migrated to the new website design, we put all that behind the Menu button so that the links you need are at the top of the page (but not taking up the whole top of the page).

So, clicking the orange Menu button opens up this collection of topic buttons (like Play Bridge) that are grouped by purpose. When you click those buttons, a list of links to specific parts of the website appears. For example, clicking on Play Bridge produces links to parts of the website, like Ways to Play and Find a Club.

Take a look! And when you’re done with the menu, simply click the X in the top right corner.
