Gerli, Fruscoloni win Wernher

Wernher Open Pairs champions Aldo Gerli and Leonardo Fruscoloni
Boosted by a strong carryover from their domination of the qualifying round, Italian players Aldo Gerli and Leonardo Fruscoloni won the four-session Wernher Open Pairs. Gerli, of Padua, and Fruscoloni, of Rome, finished with a matchpoint total of 2626.50, just ahead of runners-up
Vesa Fagerlund and Kauko Koistinen of Finland, who scored 2613.08. (Top = 77.) Using their carryover of 308 matchpoints, Gerli and Fruscoloni stayed in control throughout the final with a 61.06% performance in the first session and a 54.75% score in the second.
This is the first North American title for the winners, although Gerli won the Spring 2021 North American Online Bridge Championship Premier Pairs. Fruscoloni won a silver medal in the 2019 Transnational Open Pairs.
