Herrera, Crowson win 0–10,000 IMP Pairs
Gonzalo Herrera and Cecil Crowson Jr., both of Mexico, won the 0–10,000 IMP Pairs with a final combined score of 77.75. Rajath Shourie of Pacific Palisades CA and Eli Jolley of Evanston IL finished second with a combined score of 75.47.
Herrera and Crowson qualified in second place going into Tuesday’s final, just behind Shourie and Jolley. The difference in carryover was only 2.48 IMPs. They dropped to sixth after the first final session, but their second final session score was 57.33, which included a strong last round that propelled them from third place to first.
Herrera has an impressive tournament record in his native Mexico which includes 24 national team championships, 14 national pair championships and a Central American and Caribbean Bridge Federation championship. He has appeared in the Olympiad nine times.
