D22 pair runs away with NAP C

Andrew Rowberg of Livermore CA and Danning Lu of Goleta CA won the President’s Cup North American Pairs Flight C, representing District 22, by two and a half boards. They qualified in second place on scores of 57.69% and 65.85% and then took the lead in the first final session with a 65.98%, finishing up with 56.23%. They previously won the Collegiate Championship for UC-Santa Barbara in 2020 when it was student-organized and held online. Rowberg was barely under the eligibility limit for Flight C this year. “We knew we could win it,” he said.
