of Winnipeg MB became a Life Master on Saturday playing in the Daylight Gold Rush Pairs with Margaret Paterson. Putter needed 7.70 gold and acquired 6.20 on Tuesday for placing third in the Tom Lum Gold Rush Pairs, leaving 1.50 to go. On Saturday she placed eighth for 1.58.

Gail Buck
of Paloa HI made Life Master on Friday playing in the Jannie Feeback Thursday-Friday Morning Compact Knockout. She played with Dickie Motherwell, Walter Knox and Susan Brown, all from the Big Island. Buck needed 13.92 gold and was down to 0.59 after the Edith Neff Daylight Knockout, where partner Motherwell reached Life Master. Reaching the semifinal of the compact was good for the rest.

Mimi Levison
of Koloa HI became a Life Master on Thursday playing in the Patsy Lum Wednesday-Thursday KO Bracket 2. She was playing with Stuart Vance, Dileep Bal and Patti Moore, all from Kauai, the Garden Island. Levison needed 15 gold points. She earned 11.54 on Tuesday by winning the Edith Neff Daylight KO Bracket 2, and the rest by reaching the Thursday semifinal of the later knockout.

Shameine Ali
of Vancouver BC became a Life Master on Sunday playing in the Daylight Open Pairs. She was so sure Sunday would be the day, she marched into the Bulletin office Saturday night to tell us she’d back the next day with the news. Ali arrived in Hawaii on Thursday needing 10.41 points of any color. After three days, she was down to 0.66. Then, in the first half of the Daylight Open Pairs, she earned 0.65, bringing her to 499.99. She finished third in C for 2.19. To celebrate her accomplishment, the native of Trinidad and Tobago will play in the Blue Ribbon Pairs on Tuesday.

Dickie Motherwell
of Pahoa HI on the Big Island became a Life Master on Tuesday in the Edith Neff Daylight Knockout Bracket 2 with Gail Buck, Judy Blankenfeld and Betsy Hartley. Upon arriving in Honolulu, Motherwell needed 8.26 gold points. That was down to 3.01 after Sunday’s Gold Rush Swiss Teams, and getting to the final of the knockout delivered the rest.

Max Schireson
of Stanford CA became a Bronze Life Master on Thursday playing in the Kaplan Blue Ribbon Pairs with Debbie Rosenberg, placing 29th in the event for 30 platinum points. “I’m no longer eligible for the Gold Rush,” Schireson joked. It’s been a few years since he played in one.

Ron Leight
of Santa Fe NM became a Ruby Life Master on Thursday playing in the 0–6000 Mini-Blue Ribbon Pairs with his wife, Ivy Leight, placing 14th. He was 21 points short of 1500 coming in and picked up 13.58 in regional events. The Mini-Blue overall of 19.57 covered the rest. It was Leight’s first time in the final of a national event. “This is harder than work,” he said.

of London ON became a Ruby Life Master on Tuesday playing in the Godfrey Chang Monday-Tuesday KO Bracket 2. Little played with her husband Frank Stoffle, Bruce Moor and Tom Jolliffe. They made it to the semifinal of the event.
