Siblings John Grantham and Becky Rogers won the Senior Mixed Pairs on Friday by just over a board. After qualifying in 11th place on Thursday, they moved up to fourth in the first final session with a 58%. A 63% in the second final session put them over the top.
They were in good humor after winning the event.
“I played perfectly,” Grantham said. “My sister didn’t play for crap.”
“Put that in,” Rogers instructed. “We might as well be funny.”
Michael and Elena Prahin of Irvington NY finished second, ahead of Dutch players Jan Van Cleef and Marina Wituliet.”
Rogers said she has enjoyed reestablishing her partnership with her brother after his 30-year absence from bridge.
“He came back to bridge about five years ago and we’ve been having a good time,” she said. “We’re happy campers.”
