Ukraine Charity Events Update and More
Did you know today is Star Wars Day? May the 4th (force) be with you! Maybe celebrate by making a forcing bid in honor of the Jedi? Or the Dark Side. No judgement here.
More than $100,000 Raised for Ukraine
Thanks to your help, the special fundraising events held in March were a big success! $108,000 was raised for the United Nations World Food Program, where the donations will be earmarked to go to the Ukrainian people.
(As a reminder, these funds came from entries in the Hollywood Magic tourney and the last four days of March as directed by the ACBL Board of Directors.)
In addition, the ACBL Charity Foundation will be donating a portion of what they receive from April’s charity games (it’s Charity Month) to the UNICEF – Help Children in Ukraine Fund (up to $25,000).
We cannot thank you enough for supporting these humanitarian efforts.
It All Starts at the Local Level
It’s Grass Roots FUNd time! All of May in the face-to-face clubs is Grass Roots Month, which means any or all sanctioned club sessions can be run under this special designation, i.e., Grass Roots Fund. Check with your local club manager to see if they’ll be participating. (Virtual clubs will automatically join in during Grass Roots Weekend, May 14-15, Saturday-Sunday.)
What do Grass Roots Fund games do? Glad you asked! Funds raised will go to grassroots (get it?) efforts to support and promote Grand National Teams and North American Pairs events in your local district.
