Fu Bo and
Li Hanxiao of Shanghai, China, are the new Whitehead Women’s Pairs champions. The duo, who won Tuesday’s qualifying round, scored 61.08% in the first final session and 59.15% in the second final to convincingly win the contest by more than three boards. Their four-session total with carryover was 859.12 (25 top).
In second with 771.62 were
Liping Wang and
Yang Jinghui of Beijing, China. The pair made a strong move in the final: After they qualified 49th in the opening round, the pair posted a 66% game in the first final session.

For the winners, this was the first NABC title for Li – indeed, it was her first appearance at an NABC – but the second for Fu, who was a member of the winning squad in the Keohane North American Swiss Teams last year in Honolulu.
Fu and Li have recently advanced from the Chinese Junior program and are now trying for a slot on the Chinese Women’s team.
