Develin, Mayefsky win 10K Fast Pairs
Mike Develin of Kirkland WA and Eric Mayefsky of Washington DC won the NABC 0–10,000 Fast Pairs on Friday by a board and a half.
They scored 57.91% and 56.92% on Thursday to qualify in second place with a carryover of two boards (25.82). On Friday they stayed steady with a 54.59% in the first final and then had a big 62.87% in the last session to finish with a score of 424.97.
Rick Clelland and Ying Zhang of the Boulder CO area placed second with 404.
Develin has three previous limited NABC wins, and Mayefsky twice won the Collegiate Bridge Bowl in 2003 and 2006. Develin won the Bean Red Ribbon Pairs in 2008, the GNT Flight B in 2007 and the Manfield Non-LM Pairs in 2005.
“Fast pairs are fun” Mayefsky said.
“Even if we had done worse, this is one of the most fun events,” Develin said. “I’m really glad the ACBL puts on fast pairs and 10K events.”
