Sanborns win Mixed Pairs

Winners of the Rockwell Mixed Pairs, Steve and Kerri Sanborn.

Steve and Kerri Sanborn of Delray Beach FL won the four-session Rockwell Mixed Pairs by a fraction of a board over runners-up Pamela and Matthew Granovetter of Cincinnati. The Sanborns, who qualified 10th in Tuesday’s qualifying round, scored 64.36% in the first final session and 57.11% in the second to finish with 3501.45 matchpoints. The Granovetters were second with 3485.84 on a 103 top.
This is the second NABC title for the Sanborns as a pair. They won the NABC+ Mixed Swiss Teams in 2015. It is the second NABC title for Steve, while Kerri has some two dozen NABC titles and several world championship wins. They were second in the Rockwell Mixed Pairs in 2016.
